I’m Janel S. Fujinaka, locally born, raised, and rooted right here in Hawai‘i. I’m running to represent Hawaii State House of Representatives District 26, Makiki - Punchbowl - Tantalus, because I believe in the power of community, the importance of listening, and the urgency of action.

 

My journey has always been about service, whether supporting military families, coordinating public outreach during crises, or helping nonprofits connect with the people who need them most. I’ve spent over 15 years working alongside government agencies, nonprofits, and community groups to solve problems, build trust, and bring people together. District 26 - Makiki, Punchbowl, Papakōlea, and Tantalus hold the stories of our kūpuna, the dreams of our keiki, and the strength of neighbors who show up for one another.

 

But right now, we need leaders who will show up with the people, not just speak for them. That’s what this campaign is all about. I’m running to Push for real, compassionate solutions to homelessness, not just band-aids. Invest in safer schools, cleaner parks, and modern infrastructure. Support our working families, kūpuna, and small businesses with policies that make daily life easier. Build a government that’s open, accountable, and centered on us, the people. I believe our community knows what it needs; we haven’t always been heard. My promise is to lead with empathy, integrity, and heart and never to stop listening. This campaign isn’t just mine. It’s ours. Let’s make our voices heard and build the future we all deserve—together.
