"PUTTING WORKING FAMILIES FIRST ALWAYS!"

MEET JANEL FUJINAKA
Aloha!
I’m Janel Fujinaka, a proud, locally born-and-raised resident of Oahu living in Makiki, and I’m running for State House District 26, Makiki, Punchbowl, Papakōlea, and Tantalus, because working families like mine deserve a stronger voice at the Capitol. I know what it means to work hard, stretch a paycheck, and worry about the rising cost of living. Those experiences shape how I lead and why I fight for practical, community-first solutions.
For more than 15 years, I’ve served alongside our neighbors, supporting community, leading emergency outreach during crises, and helping local nonprofits connect people to the resources they need. I’ve seen firsthand that real progress happens when we put people before politics and work together to solve problems.
I’m running to tackle homelessness with dignity, support safe and thriving schools, improve our parks and infrastructure, and build a government that is transparent, accountable, and focused on the everyday needs of working families. This campaign is about our community, our future, and making sure no one gets left behind.

Platform Issues:
Education & infrastructure
I support strong education and infrastructure because they create opportunity, strengthen our economy, and ensure our communities are safe, connected, and prepared for the future.
Kapuna Care
I will support our kūpuna by strengthening access to affordable healthcare, expanding in-home and community-based services, and investing in programs that help seniors live with dignity, independence, and security.
Government Transparency
I support term limits because they promote fresh ideas, prevent entrenched power, and ensure our leaders remain accountable to the people.
Public Safety
I will address public safety and homelessness with compassion—expanding mental health and addiction services, investing in housing and job programs, and building safe, supportive communities where people can regain stability and dignity.
Affordable Housing
I will support affordable housing by cutting red tape, encouraging responsible development, and investing in programs that help local families afford homes in the communities they call home.
Term Limits
I support term limits because they promote fresh ideas, prevent entrenched power, and ensure our leaders remain accountable to the people.
